Question 1

What makes AirPop different from standard masks?

Accepted Answer

AirPop masks have a 360° soft touch seal that follows the shape of your face, built to close the gaps flat-fold masks leave at the nose and cheeks. The 3D Air Dome holds the filter off your lips.

Question 2

How long can I wear an AirPop mask?

Accepted Answer

Our reusable masks (Light SE and Youth & Petite) are designed for 40 hours of cumulative wear time. The outer shell wipes clean, while the multi-layer filter media maintains high filtration efficiency for up to one week of daily use.

Question 3

Are AirPop masks certified?

Accepted Answer

Yes. AirPop masks are certified to ASTM F3502-21, the US barrier face covering standard, by Intertek: Level 2 for sub-micron particle filtration efficiency, Level 1 for air flow resistance. They are also tested to KN95 (GB 2626-2019) filter efficiency by SGS and type-tested to AFNOR SPEC S76-001 by BSI. Test reports are available to retail partners on request.

Question 4

How do I clean my AirPop mask?

Accepted Answer

Wipe the outer surfaces with a >70% alcohol wipe, or with a clean paper towel and a soap-and-water solution, as the pack instructs, then let the mask dry naturally before reuse. Intertek tested the alcohol-wipe method through 10 cleaning cycles with >97% PFE retained.

Question 5

What is ASTM F3502-21 and why does it matter?

Accepted Answer

ASTM F3502-21 is the US standard for barrier face coverings, published by ASTM International. It grades the whole mask on sub-micron filtration and breathing resistance, and addresses leakage through a design analysis, because a mask that filters well but leaks around the edges doesn't protect you. It does not include a fit test, so check the seal on your own face. AirPop is certified to ASTM F3502-21 by Intertek.

Question 6

What does >97% particle filtration efficiency mean?

Accepted Answer

It means that in Intertek's ASTM F3502-21 test, AirPop masks filtered more than 97% of sub-micron particles, both new and after 10 cleaning cycles with a 70% alcohol wipe. That result is Level 2, the higher of the standard's two filtration levels.

Question 7

How do AirPop reusable masks compare to disposable masks?

Accepted Answer

AirPop reusable masks are reusable for up to 10 cleaning cycles (70% alcohol wipe), so a $19.99 four-pack covers 40 wears, about $0.50 per wear. A disposable is worn once, so its price is its cost per wear: reusable wins on cost whenever you pay more than about $0.50 a mask. They maintain filtration performance through those cycles, reduce landfill waste, and hold their 3D shape better than flat disposables.

Question 8

Why does AirPop feel easy to breathe through?

Accepted Answer

Our patented 3D Aerodome structure creates an air pocket between the mask and your face, so the filter doesn't rest on your lips. That means less heat and moisture build-up and easier talking. In Intertek's ASTM F3502-21 test, air-flow resistance measured 8 mm H₂O (the Level 1 limit is 15), with >97% filtration efficiency.

Question 9

How do I find the right AirPop mask fit?

Accepted Answer

The Light SE comes in two sizes. The standard size fits most adult faces, and Light SE Youth & Petite is cut smaller for teens and adults with smaller faces. Both use our 360° soft-touch seal, and the adjustable ear loops and flexible nose bridge let you fine-tune the fit. For best results, the mask should seal snugly around your nose, cheeks, and chin with no visible gaps. When you breathe in, a mask that fits will pull in slightly against your face, and if it doesn't, try the other size.

Question 10

When should I replace my AirPop mask or filter?

Accepted Answer

Replace the mask after approximately 40 hours of cumulative use or 10 cleaning cycles, whichever comes first. If you notice increased breathing resistance, visible damage, or the mask no longer holds its shape, replace it sooner. For daily commuters, one mask typically lasts 2-4 weeks.

Question 11

Can I wear an AirPop mask during flu season?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as an everyday mask. AirPop masks make no medical claims and do not replace vaccination or a doctor's advice. What we can state is the lab result: in Intertek's ASTM F3502-21 test, they filtered more than 97% of sub-micron particles. The CDC publishes respiratory-illness activity every week in FluView.

Question 12

Can I wear an AirPop mask in pollen season?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pollen grains are far larger than the sub-micron particles measured in Intertek's ASTM F3502-21 test, in which AirPop masks filtered more than 97%. Wear one for time outdoors in pollen season: gardening, hiking, the commute. AirPop masks make no medical claims and are not an allergy treatment.

Question 13

Can I wear an AirPop mask in wildfire smoke?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most of the particles in wildfire smoke are fine particles (PM2.5). In Intertek's ASTM F3502-21 test, AirPop masks filtered more than 97% of sub-micron particles. A filter only works on the air that passes through it, so fit matters: the 360° seal is built to close the gaps flat-fold masks leave. In heavy smoke, follow your local air-quality guidance. Question 14

Are AirPop masks good for air travel and commuting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. AirPop masks are popular with frequent travelers and daily commuters. The compact design fits easily in a pocket or bag, the 3D Aerodome structure makes them comfortable for extended wear, and because the filter stays off your lips, you can keep one on through a long flight.

Question 15

Can I exercise or run while wearing an AirPop mask?

Accepted Answer

The Light SE is our lightest mask, and its 3D Aerodome structure keeps the filter off your lips for easier breathing. Use it as comfort allows during exercise, and stop if breathing feels restricted.

Question 16

How sustainable are AirPop masks compared to disposables?

Accepted Answer

Each AirPop reusable mask replaces up to 10 disposable masks. Disposable masks are a major pollution source: an estimated 1.5 billion entered the ocean in 2020 alone. AirPop's reusable design and longer lifespan make it the more environmentally responsible choice without compromising protection.

Question 17

Does AirPop make a smaller size?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Light SE Youth & Petite is the small fit of the Light SE, for teens and adults with smaller faces. It's sold online at Target.com. The fit check and full specs are at getairpop.com/en/small-fit-mask.

Question 18

Where can I buy AirPop masks?

Accepted Answer

In the US, AirPop masks are sold at Target, in stores and on target.com. Search for 'AirPop' on target.com to find them online.
